Then on Wednesday, Ben had his first taste of oatmeal. His Dr. did not want him to start off on the typical rice cereal that most babies eat due to his dysmotility - which is basically irritable bowel syndrome for a baby. He hasn't had many problems with it lately, but his Dr. said dysmotility babies often have a flare-up when they try cereal, so Ben gets oatmeal. And he had a ball with it. We think he was on a carbohydrate high because afterwards he was laughing so much he was almost giddy.
Finally, on Thursday of this week, I needed a haircut so we decided to see if the lady could also trim Ben's hair - his bangs were already reaching his eyes and he had some straggly hairs at the base of his neck - what she couldn't get, Daddy Greg trimmed up later at home. So, Ben's first official haircut was exactly at 4 months old!
All in all, Ben did excellently well at all 3 big events. He even laughed at the lady cutting his hair at one point. During the baby dedication, he was sucking on his hands in the first service and then had fallen asleep by the second service. It's nice to just be able to nod off anytime, anywhere - too bad we have to grow up. :)
